The holidays are a wonderful time of the year, but if you’re not careful, you can do some serious destruction to your teeth. By taking precautions to not open things with your teeth, to eat sweets only at the proper times and to do what you can to brush thoroughly, you can guard your teeth this year. Here’s some additional info to help you protect your dental health this season:

Don’t open presents with your mouth! Though it might be tempting to open presents asap, don’t do it with your teeth: teeth can crack or break when you use them to open items. Instead, use scissors and the suitable tools for opening things.

Try eating sweets around meal times. Since your mouth naturally creates spit around meal times, deliberate on consuming any sweets you’ll have around meal times. The extra spit in your oral cavity will help to clean away cavity-instigating acids.

Finally, ensure that you’re brushing for long enough by humming a holiday tune in your head. By thinking or mentally singing through a song, you’ll be sure to brush your teeth for the full two minutes that we suggest.
