Have you ever been walking down the oral health aisle at the grocery store, and see products labeled with an “ADA Seal of Approval?” Chances are, you’ve seen it more often than you’d realize. But few people know what the ADA stands for, or why their seal of approval is so important.
Today, we’re going to take a few minutes to explain the importance of the ADA, and its seal, to you.
What is it?
The American Dental Association is the professional association for all dental professionals in North America. Everyone from orthodontists to a dentist is welcome to join.
Why is it important?
The ADA has certain standards and practices that, through a consensus by all members. These are generally accepted as the best standards by which dentistry perform, and they’re the ones by which Dr. Derek Lichter practices.
What about the seal?
You know a lot of products are advertised to do something, but they never really live up to the hype? The ADA seal is the safeguard against that in the dental world. In order to get the ADA seal, a product has to be proven to do what it says. So whitening toothpaste with the ADA seal on it has been proven to whiten teeth in most circumstances.
